About Etherscan

Etherscan is the canonical explorer for Ethereum. It lets you search transactions, addresses, blocks, logs, tokens/NFTs, and verified contracts; interact with contracts (read/write); check gas in real time; and plug into a broad API suite used by wallets, dApps, and analysts.

Quick Facts

  • Product: Etherscan (explorer, analytics, and APIs for Ethereum mainnet & testnets).

  • Security tools: Token Approval Checker to view/revoke ERC-20/721/1155 allowances.

  • Gas: Live Gas Tracker + Gas API endpoints.

  • Contracts: Verify & publish source; Read/Write from the UI; Code Reader (AI) to navigate verified code.

  • Tokens & NFTs: ERC-20, ERC-721, ERC-1155 trackers (holders, transfers, trades).

  • Account Abstraction: ERC-4337 UserOps and EntryPoint activity visible on explorer.

  • APIs: Free & Pro plans; accounts/contracts/txs/blocks/logs/gas; single key for 50+ EVM chains via the Etherscan API network.

  • Labeling: Public labels + Label Word Cloud; private name tags & notes when logged in.

How It Works

  1. Look up a tx hash or address → see status, fees, logs, and decoded token movements.

  2. Inspect a contract: open ContractRead/Write tabs; review source, ABI, events, and proxies; verify new code if you’re the owner

  3. Manage risk: open Token Approval Checker and revoke unneeded spend approvals.

  4. Track gas: check Gas Tracker (or query the API) before submitting transactions.
