Editorial Policy

Last updated

This policy explains how W3Dock News is produced: where our information comes from, how we check facts and how we correct mistakes. It applies to everything published in News and to the editorial parts of the directory.

Sourcing

  • We prefer primary sources: official announcements, blog posts and documentation from the project, regulator and court filings, on-chain data and statements from the people involved.
  • For news first reported elsewhere, we compare several outlets before publishing and credit the outlet that broke the story.
  • Every article links to the sources it relies on. If a claim rests on a single unconfirmed source, we say so.
  • We add background from the W3Dock directory (for example a project’s category, investors or earlier funding rounds) and link to the relevant profile.

Fact-checking

  • Figures such as amounts raised, valuations, prices and dates are checked against the original source before publication.
  • Where sources disagree, we report the disagreement rather than pick a number.
  • Market prices are a snapshot at the time of writing.
  • We do not publish unverified rumours as fact. Allegations are attributed to whoever made them.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so.

  • How to report an error: email [email protected] with the article link and what is wrong. For directory profiles you can also use the “Request Edit” button on the page.
  • How corrections are shown: a factual correction is noted in the article as “Correction (date): what was wrong and what we changed.” We do not silently change facts.
  • Typos, formatting and broken links are fixed without a note.
  • We aim to review correction requests within two working days.

Updates

When a story develops after publication, we add the new information and mark it “Update (date)”. The article’s updated date changes only for meaningful changes, not cosmetic edits.

Conflicts of interest and affiliate links

  • W3Dock earns money from display ads and from affiliate and referral links to some exchanges and services. These links are marked as sponsored and disclosed where they appear.
  • Commercial relationships do not decide what we cover or how. News articles are not written to promote a referral link.
  • Anyone editing W3Dock News who holds a material position in, or has a business relationship with, a project must disclose it in the article or step away from the story.
  • We do not accept payment, tokens, airdrops or gifts in exchange for coverage.

We do not currently publish paid news, paid press releases or sponsored articles. If that changes, sponsored content will be clearly labelled “Sponsored”, kept out of the News section and never published under the W3Dock Newsroom byline.

No investment advice

W3Dock reports news and provides information. Nothing we publish is financial, investment, legal or tax advice, or a recommendation to buy or sell any asset. Crypto assets are volatile and high risk. See our disclaimer.
