Privacy Policy

Last updated

This Privacy Policy explains how W3Dock (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects your information when you visit w3dock.org (the “Site”). We are the data controller for the personal data described here. If you have questions, contact us at [email protected].

Information we collect

We aim to collect as little personal data as possible. The information we process generally falls into these categories:

  • Usage and analytics data. Pages viewed, referring URLs, approximate location (country/city level), device type, browser, operating system, and aggregated interaction events.
  • Log data. Our servers and third-party providers may automatically record IP addresses, timestamps, requested URLs and similar technical data for security, abuse prevention and diagnostics.
  • Cookies and similar technologies. Small files and identifiers stored on your device that remember preferences, measure traffic, and support advertising.
  • Information you send us. If you email us or submit a form, we receive the content of your message and your contact details.

Google AdSense and advertising cookies

We use Google AdSense to display advertising. Google and its partners may use cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie and other identifiers — to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. This can include personalised advertising. You can learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com.

Third-party vendors, including Google, may place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons, to collect information as a result of ad serving on the Site. Some third-party vendors may also use non-cookie technologies. Where required, we ask for your consent before allowing advertising cookies.

Google Analytics (GA4)

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the Site — for example, which pages are popular and how people navigate. GA4 may set cookies and collect identifiers such as a client ID. IP addresses are used for approximate geolocation and are not logged for advertising purposes. We configure analytics in a privacy-conscious way, but analytics cookies are only activated in line with your consent choices where the law requires it.

Consent, cookies and how to withdraw

When you first visit the Site, a banner lets you Accept all cookies or Reject non-essential cookies. Essential cookies, needed for the Site to function and to remember your choice, are always allowed. Non-essential categories — statistics (analytics) and marketing (advertising) — are set to denied by default and are only enabled after you accept.

Your choice is stored in your browser’s local storage under the key w3dock-consent. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by clearing that value (and the site’s cookies) in your browser settings, after which the banner will appear again on your next visit. You can also control cookies through your browser, and opt out of personalised ads via the Google Ad Settings link above. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

Legal bases (GDPR / UK GDPR)

Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent — for analytics and advertising cookies, and personalised ads. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests — to keep the Site secure, prevent abuse, and maintain basic operation. We balance these interests against your rights.
  • Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose information to comply with the law.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected].

California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion or correction, to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information for money, but advertising-related data sharing may be considered a “sale” or “share” under California law. You can opt out using the consent banner or by emailing us.

Data retention

We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described. Analytics data is retained for a limited period and then aggregated or deleted. Log data is kept for a short period for security purposes. Consent records are kept to demonstrate compliance.

International transfers

Our providers, including Google, may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent mechanism.

Children

The Site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “last updated” date below reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be reflected on this page, and continued use of the Site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
